Has it really been 9-1/2 years since Teacher Man and I became parents? Now our redheaded, freckled boy is his own little man – always creative and sometimes cautious, baseball player and pianist, funny man and artist/writer.
Just seconds after he came into the world, he promptly peed all over his Dad. It is still one of Teacher Man’s favorite stories to tell.
We celebrated Father’s Day on Saturday at my brother and sister-in-law’s lake cabin, with family, a total of seven dogs and about a million mosquitoes. It was a beautiful Minnesota evening at the lake.
On Sunday, Joe and I took Teacher Man golfing, one of his absolute favorite things to do. We both love to golf, actually, so we’re hoping to instill that same interest in Joe. We’ve taken him out golfing with us since he was probably 4 or 5 and this year, after outgrowing the hand-me-down set of golf clubs from his cousin, Joe got a brand-new set of clubs. It was a great day on the course – the usual array of good hits and not-so-good hits, especially since it was my first time out this year – but who could complain when it was sunny and 82 degrees out?
On the way home, we picked up some DQ ice cream and spent the rest of the day being lazy at home – a very nice end to a great weekend. We’re definitely going to have to work in another one of these weekends again soon.
Happy Father’s Day!
You all certainly know how to have fun! Well except for that mosquito part….
So true, Diane – so true!
