I’m not really playing hooky today, but there is something about taking a day off on Monday that feels like I’m cheating just a little.
I went for a run in my neighborhood this morning, marveling at the blue sky and crisp morning air. When I got back, I walked around to the backyard and admired some of the fall garden landscape that still looks quite wonderful, thanks to the long, warm autumn we’ve had.
Later, I organized my grocery list and menus for the week, and headed off to Target to stock up on some essentials. I made lunch for Joe (who has the day off from school as well) and me without any of the rush of packing his lunch bag for school. And did I mention The Pioneer Woman and The Barefoot Contessa are on Food Network? I think I’m in heaven.
It feels so good to get caught up after being gone all weekend. Why are work weeks five days instead of four? 😉
Now I’m going to do some blog writing this afternoon with Earl the pug napping at my feet.
When I feel like it, I’ll prep the turkey meatloaf for supper (which I am craving, by the way!) and then take Joe to piano lessons.
It’s a perfectly lovely, stress-free Monday and I’m going to take full advantage of it. What are you doing on this Monday?
