How was your weekend?
Ours was nice and uneventful at home. We golfed, we enjoyed time on our patio, and today I packed up my suitcase for the next two weeks.
I’m off to Washington DC tomorrow morning for a work-related conference and I’m looking forward to seeing my turkey peeps for a few days. Washington DC is also one of my favorite cities to visit – I enjoy the museums, the monuments and outdoor areas, the restaurants, and so much more. I’m never at a loss for something do in DC.
Once my conference is over, the boys are meeting me in DC for week-long East Coast road trip. In other words, vacation!! I won’t be back in the office until July 26, and I can readily admit that I’m looking forward to that.
So, my suitcase is packed (almost) and Teacher Man has the instructions for what he needs to remember while I’m gone. I think we’re ready!
The flowers in the garden right now are gorgeous, so I thought I’d post a few updates before I leave. Fingers crossed everything will still be in good shape when I return. 🙂
Have a great week, everyone!

I love ivy geraniums and try to have a hanging pot of this flower every year. These hot pink (almost raspberry) colored blooms are amazing!
This beautiful white phlox (“David” is the variety, I think) came from my mom. We both love how vivid white it is in the landscape.
Have I mentioned my love for the simple, classic daisy? I love this flower and have since I was a little girl. This variety is “Becky” – definitely a favorite. It’s a perennial, or at least it’s supposed to be, but I can never get it to over-winter well in Minnesota (I’m in Zone 4 for you gardeners out there). Instead, I just buy a new plant every spring because I can’t imagine not having this daisy in my landscape.
Coneflowers bloom all summer and provide fall interest in the garden, too.
My “Annabelle” hydrangeas really took it during a storm last week – the big blooms flopped right over. Still gorgeous, though, with blooms that start white and morph into an antique green with some pink, as well.
This daylily has special meaning for us – it’s a “Duke of Earl” variety and I planted it because our pug’s name was Earl. It’s blooming like crazy now and it makes us smile fondly and remember all of our Earl the Pug memories. 🙂
