Weekend Snaps: Farm Weddings

You guys! I have so many fun pictures from our weekend that this post may get a little obnoxious. We ended up having two wedding celebrations to attend – one on Friday evening and the other on Saturday. And of course they were 200+ miles apart … road trip! 🙂

Friday night was a party for my cousin’s marriage on his farm. I’ve posted about his farm before – it’s the same farm that my grandparents owned and my mom and her four brothers called home. (You can view that post here.)

It was a super fun night – perfect weather for hanging on the front porch, sipping wine, and catching up with family and friends. And at dusk, my cousin and his wife had arranged for a totally legit fireworks display. Like crazy-good-professional! It was pretty awesome!

After that amazing party, we moved on to the wedding of my coworker, Erica, on her family’s turkey farm near Alexandria, Minnesota. Erica is so crafty and loves vintage items and touches, so I knew her wedding on the farm would be beyond Pinterest-worthy and would also honor her family’s farming heritage – along with her fiance’s passion for agriculture, as well.

This wedding did not disappoint. It was a stunning day for an outdoor ceremony overlooking the lake, and when we moved on to the large shed for the reception, there were so many beautiful touches and family photo displays everywhere!

I can’t show them all but here are a few of my favorite photos from the day:

And here’s my #TurkeyGeek selfie – with the turkey barn in the background. Erica’s family raises breeder turkeys – which means, their turkey hens lay eggs that then go to a hatchery to be hatched. Those baby turkeys (or “poults”) then are delivered to other turkey farms that raise turkeys for meat consumption. Cool fact about Erica’s family farm – it’s been in existence (and in the family) since 1866!!

Here’s a look at the reception in the shed before it overflowed with guests. I loved the three chandeliers and also the big “S” on the far wall – the initial of their last name.

I was almost giddy when I saw all these antique stands (and the doilies!) that later held individually wrapped cheesecakes. So pretty!

Another perk of working for Minnesota’s turkey industry? I have friends who travel to distant lands – in this case, Brazil – and bring home goofy presents for me. These are two salt shakers shaped like eggs. Here’s a little trivia for you: Brazil doesn’t serve pepper unless you ask for it. That’s why this set includes “salt and salt” shakers and not “salt and pepper” shakers. Who knew?

A glittery turkey feather in every table arrangement (and the bridesmaids’ bouquets!) was such a fun and personal touch.

And here I am with the beautiful bride and my other coworker, Teresa. Such a fun night! (And for those who keep track of these things, I’m wearing a brand new LuLaRoe dress – the Carly – along with my cowboy boots. Love this swing dress – so comfy and stylish!)

So there you have it – my weekend snaps!  Oh wait … I almost forgot. I have one more:

Yep, this is Teacher Man in a “thinking pose” during sunset. Our friend, Scot, took the photo and they texted it to me as a joke. The funny thing is – I didn’t notice it until later and then was like, “whaaat?” Funny!
