Happy Easter, friends! It is certainly like no other Easter Sunday for any of us.
Easter Online
I watched our church service online and I am struggling a little today with how to feel. Easter Sunday gives me hope and I feel comfort in listening to familiar Easter hymns and the pastor’s message. But I also feel a profound sense of sadness that our world is a different place and, in fact, will likely be forever changed in many ways by what we’re going through.
I also tuned in to the live Andrea Bocelli concert from a magnificent (empty) church in Milan and his incredible voice provided a sense of calming and peace. His version of Ave Maria, arranged from J.S. Bach’s Prelude No. 1 was absolutely stunning, but Amazing Grace at the end – while showing glimpses of Paris, London and New York – gave me all the feels.
Easter Then and Now
Speaking of feels, last year we hosted Easter and I shared this fun post!
By the looks of it, our weather last year was way better too! Did I mention it is snowing here on Easter Sunday? Yesterday, it was sunny and near 60 – a lovely day with a light breeze. Today, it is starting to look like January or February again. Hmmm ….
Time for Challah!
It’s a good day to stay inside and eat bread. 🙂 Challah bread, to be exact! I made three loaves yesterday from my favorite bread cookbook, Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day and we all love it.
You can find the recipe here. (The only difference is you can see from my photo above I don’t add sesame or poppy seeds to it – we like it plain, just as is.)
Zoe Francois is one of the cookbook authors and she is completely fun to follow on Instagram (@ZoeBakes). Her blog is also gorgeous and full of fun recipes to bake.
If you’ve ever wanted to make your own bread but are a little intimidated, I recommend you buy the book – it really breaks it all down for you and isn’t difficult at all! When my neighbor gifted me the cookbook a few years ago, I had no idea how it would become on of my favorites!
Some Bunny Likes her Easter Basket
Also on Easter Sunday, a cute picture of my niece, Miss Morgan, and her Easter basket! Looks like she’s graduated to a big girl softball glove too. 🙂
For the record, Joe received his Easter basket with a very large solid milk chocolate bunny, some Nerds jelly beans, and Hershey’s miniatures. (Cub Foods was out of chocolate eggs, unfortunately.) But he wasn’t too keen on a photo! 😉
Memories of Earl The Pug
And lastly (for today anyway), Easter Sunday seemed like a good day to finally put together a memorial collage of our pug, Earl, who passed away a few years ago. I really meant to do it sooner, but it got pushed to the wayside. And honestly, it was a little sad even today putting this together, digging through all the fun pictures we took with him.
No matter how bittersweet, I love how it turned out and it’s now on order so we can put it up in the house later this month!
That’s it for now from here. May you find peace, joy, and love on this Easter Sunday!
