Tailgating Turkey Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 16-ounce package JENNIE-O® Lean Ground Turkey
  • cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt if desired
  • 6 slices garlic toast
  • 1 15-ounce can HORMEL® Chili with Beans, heated according to can directions
  • ¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons light sour cream

Method

  1. Combine turkey, cilantro, garlic, pepper (and salt, if desired) in a large bowl. Mix until combined. Divide meat mixture into six separate ½-inch thick football-shaped patties.
  2. Spray non-stick skillet with cooking spray.
  3. Place patties in skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cover and cook for 16-18 minutes, turning two to three times and until internal temperature reaches well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer.
  5. Heat broiler.
  6. Place turkey burger on garlic toast.
  7. Top with chili and cheese.
  8. Broil four to five inches from heat source for two to three minutes or until cheese is melted.
  9. Top with sour cream.

Notes

I used the "hot" version of HORMEL® Chili with Beans, but if you don't like that much kick, just purchase the regular version.
For the garlic bread, I bought Market Pantry frozen garlic Texas Toast at Target - it was the perfect size for the patties.
