It’s Sunday night and I’m listening to the ice fall against my windows. Yes, ice. Apparently winter isn’t ready to let go in Minnesota. It’s frustrating for me, definitely. (I want to be outside cleaning up the yard and getting my gardens ready, and, quite frankly, it’s annoying I can’t wear any of my cute spring shoes yet.) But in all seriousness, I know it’s even worse for the farmers out there trying to care for livestock or wishing they could get ready for spring planting. I only hope this will help our moisture situation. Otherwise, it’s really quite a major pain in the … well, you get the idea.

Ice Ice (and Snow) Baby … in mid-April. Sigh.

I have a few completely random items to share with you tonight. Seriously random, so I hope you don’t mind!

1) I am ridiculously excited to be featured on the Faces of Agriculture blog! If you haven’t checked out this blog and are interested in meeting a wide variety of farmers, ranchers and those of us who work in agriculture, I encourage you to check it out. The blog usually features a couple of different people each week and it’s a great way to learn more about farming and check out some different blog and website links that are shared. Thank you, Faces of Agriculture, for sharing my story – I am humbled to be included with so many amazing people on your blog!

2) I want to give a shout-out to my hubby, Teacher Man, for receiving his school’s “Life Saver” Award last Friday. The award honors the work he does with students day in and day out. He’s a 7th grade social studies teacher and he puts an enormous amount of his heart, soul, patience and time into teaching his students. He probably wouldn’t want me to tell you this, but he often lays awake at night – or wakes up in the middle night – thinking about school and his class and what he needs to accomplish every day. I’m so proud of him and am glad he received this recognition from the other teachers in his school.

3) Adam Scott is one hot Aussie golfer, yes? This may seem like an odd statement after I just talked about Teacher Man above; however, don’t worry – my husband is aware of this little crush! 🙂 Plus, this post is really to honor my sister-in-law’s “Hotness Picks” for our family’s Master’s golf tournament pool this weekend. I think she gets extra creativity points for coming up with two lists for the pool – one is a list of regular golfers she felt were in contention to win the Master’s title; the other list was her “Hotness Picks.” I am so copying her and doing that for next year’s Master’s pool!

4) My 9-year-old announced tonight that he wants me to create a Facebook page for our senior citizen pug, Earl. Is he a chip off the old block, or what? I’m not quite sure I want to administer yet another Facebook page (I take care of 4 others for work + my own), but I love his enthusiasm!

Joe, Earl the Pug and Earl Jr. the (stuffed animal) Pug. Joe received that stuffed animal at the hospital when he was born – a gift from my boss – and it’s been his favorite stuffed animal forever. Once he was old enough to come up with a name, he decided “Earl Jr.” would be perfect!

That’s it from here on a cold, icy, snowy Sunday night. While it may seem counter-intuitive given the whole freezing weather thing, I think I’m going to have a bowl of ice cream (chocolate brownie peanut butter with extra chocolate sauce – yum!) and curl up on the couch with a quilt and watch “The Good Wife.” Have a great week, everyone!
