Before I get to Sunday, I must share some Saturday photos.

Yes, I know. This doesn’t quite match up with the title of this post, but hey – work with me here.

For us, Saturday meant watching our niece, Miss Morgan, while her parents worked. And let me tell you, we all had a complete blast. That girl is completely enamored of Joe (but she also happens to like her aunt and uncle pretty well too)! 🙂

A long walk in the park, some Dairy Queen for lunch, and a nap for all – not a bad way to spend a Saturday!

  A #selfie. Of course.

Look at these two. 🙂

 And these two.
My girl. 🙂

Okay, Sunday:

  1. A short run for me – not as long as I usually like to go, but I had to make sure I had time to get ready for church, which brings me to …
  2. Church – which was not on Joe’s wish list for the day, if you can imagine that. (Ha!) “But there’s not Sunday School for you this year,” I told him on the way, hoping this would somehow make the situation more palatable. “At least Sunday School was mildly entertaining,” he told me. Ouch.
  3. A Vikings win for the home opener. (Plus both the Minnesota Gophers and Iowa Hawkeyes won on Saturday!)
  4. Grocery shopping with Joe, who makes maneuvering a cart around Target an interesting experience. Plus, he always wants to know exactly how many items we need to buy and will often call me out if I go over the original estimate.
  5. I caved and baked something. It’s like I’m programmed to bake on the weekends. I can’t help it. Today it was “Roasted Pear and Chocolate Scones” from Smitten Kitchen. I saw the recipe posted on Facebook this morning and it totally intrigued me – I don’t bake much with pears, but I love scones and I love chocolate so how could this not be good? I’m bringing these to the office tomorrow for our staff meeting – the perfect anecdote for all the inevitable stress of reviewing what needs to get done this week. 😉
  6. I also have been totally craving chili. It must be the advent of the first day of fall coming this week. I pretty much want soup and chili all the time now. Today it was white bean and turkey chili – the very first recipe I posted on #TurkeyTuesday. So good!
  7. While I made supper, Joe worked on his math homework with a little help from #TeacherMan. Earl the pug, on the other hand, basically just stared at me until I couldn’t take it anymore so I fed him early.
  8. We also squeezed in piano practice for Joe, who has lessons every Monday after school. We were in review mode today and we had to look up what tonic, dominate and leading tone meant, just in case you were wondering. He’s also playing this weird song called Sakura which we both agree has to be one of the most depressing sounding songs in the history of songs.
  9. But to brighten up the rest of the evening up … Dairy Queen blizzards for dessert – our Sunday night tradition.
  10. I almost forgot! Have you seen this mash-up video of Uptown Funk, featuring 100 dance scenes from movies? It’s fairly brilliant!

Photos follow below, because, well, you know how I love visuals.

Exciting stuff around here, yes? 😉

Hope you have a great start to the week … and I’ll see you back here soon.

And so we’re rolling right into enriched 6th grade math. (Pray for me.)
