Here we are on the last Sunday in August. How did THAT happen? Teacher Man goes back to school tomorrow (it’s workshop week) and Joe has just one week of vacation left. While I know I will eventually be happy to get back on a regular schedule, I don’t think I’m quite ready for this yet.
Not that I have much of a choice or anything.
So … we packed a lot of fun into the weekend, which included a wedding and a visit from my sister and her family. In between, I grabbed a few photos of my gardens, which are quite ablaze with color right now.
First – the flowers:
My one lone sunflower plant, which apparently self-seeded from somewhere and magically appeared amongst my yellow beans after my entire row of mammoth sunflowers didn’t make it earlier this spring.
Pre-bloom glory.
Quite possibly the world’s puniest cherry tomato plant – ha! It was hacked down twice by bunnies but fought its way back to the living and is giving us a few tomatoes. Amazing!
My raucous zinnia bed – blooms came slowly this summer but finally it’s showing off a little!
A close-up of my Green Envy Zinnia – love this plant!
My mom gave me this new rudbeckia this year – it’s called ‘Rudbeckia Henry Eilers’ – and I think the blooms are so fun.
I’ve posted photos of my Lantana before but I just love how this plant handles the heat, humidity, direct sunlight, and wind. It’s truly a top performer on the west side of my house – one tough plant!
And now for the finery … as we wore it to a wedding.
My newest pair of wedges this summer … the darker silver color is so versatile and I do get a little height from these too! I wore these with my new LuLaRoe ‘Carly’ dress that can be dressed up or worn casually, depending on the shoes and accessories. (I often wear this dress with sneakers – it’s an easy way to get around town. (I’m definitely a dress girl, though – I find them so comfortable.)
Teacher Man and I had a Friday afternoon wedding in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, which is a lovely suburb of Saint Paul. It’s only an hour from our house, but neither one of us had ever been there. Isn’t that weird? We saw so many fun shops and restaurants – I can’t believe we haven’t checked it out until now.
Of course, Teacher Man couldn’t resist goofing around during our photo shoot. 😉
And speaking of goofball … that’s my Joe!
Finally … the fun of the rest of the weekend!
Saturday afternoon was cool and rainy around here, so I threw on my most comfy LuLaRoe leggings (I love this pattern – it totally screams fun!) and my gray sneaks, and Teacher Man and I visited the local winery for a late afternoon happy hour. Turns out, the owner/winemaker grew up in Bird Island, Minnesota – just a few miles from my hometown of Hector. Super small world!
And does it get any more fun than this? Cousin Morgan visited us today and we trekked to the local park after lunch for a little play time. She only wanted Joe to push her on the swing, of course! 🙂
We are now dog-sitting Miss Morgan’s “fur brother”, a German Shorthair named Avery for the week while my sister and her family take a little vacation to North Carolina’s Outer Banks. We’re looking forward to some long walks and Avery snuggles.
Hope you have a great start to your week, friends!
