Currently …
- Teacher Man is sleeping on the couch.
- Joe is working on a Dungeons and Dragons game (do they call it a game? I’m not sure) in the basement.
- I am sipping some Moscato and, full disclosure here, was wasting time on Facebook when it dawned on me that I should just write a blog post – this would be way more productive.
So here I am!
Also currently …
- My tennis elbow is definitely improving and today, I did a walk-run for about 3.6 miles and it felt great! Well, hot as hell and I’m totally out of shape for running but still great. (After not running for probably six months, it’s like starting completely over. But I will get back to running 4 miles with ‘relative ease.’ #Goals)
- Friday is my last day in the office for two weeks. Whaaaat?! I head to DC on Sunday for a work trip and then I’m on vacay when I get back. Not going going to lie – I am really looking forward to a few days off. I’m doing the ‘staycation’ thing this summer, which kind of sucks but also is kind of nice. If that makes sense.
- I went to Target tonight to pick up supplies for a taco layer dip for the 4th of July and ended up spending $98.62. Good grief.
- And to make matters worse, I forgot the actual taco seasoning packet so I had to make a 2nd stop at Cub Foods. Yeah, I know. But …. it was meant to be because a lady checking out in the lane next to me complimented my hair, so … #winning!
Some photos from the week:
My boy … looking all grown up in the high school marching band. They marched in 6 parades in about 7 days, I think, and it was so fun to watch! I’m so proud of all the work and effort he put into this … this kid has some musical skills. 😉
Speaking of musical … my niece (2nd row, left) and her friend are in the Minnesota Music Ambassadors program and are leaving for a Europe concert tour on Friday! They rehearsed this week at St. Michael-Albertville High School so we got to play their host family and we had a blast having them stay with us!
It’s time for all the Asiatic lilies to bloom and they are spectacular!
My favorite bulb with the most complicated name ever … Ornithogalum thyrsoides Chinchierinchee!
Coreopsis that remind me of University of Minnesota Gopher colors!
A container featuring these amazing Osteospermum blooms!
Annabelle Hydrangeas.
My first round of yellow beans will be ready to harvest very soon!
Garlic scapes!
Another container – with lantana and scaevola … these are gorgeous annuals that really handle the heat and wind on the west side of my house.
And home project #1 this week for Teacher Man … my new Subway tile backsplash!
Home project #2 … a new mantel with wood we found at Biggs and Company, a fabulous occasional shop in Buffalo.
Wishing you and yours a fabulous 4th of July! We’re headed to my brother’s lake cabin and fingers crossed we’ll get some nice stretches of weather in between the predicted severe weather. It will certainly be hot, which I love … I’m a total summer girl!
Happy 4th!
xoxo – Lara
