For all the Instant Pot fanatics out there (pick me, pick me!), I am pleased to announce I have adapted one of my favorite pasta recipes. Behold, I present Instant Pot Creamy Parmesan and Turkey Penne!

I have made this recipe the original way (stovetop and oven) countless times and it is well-loved in my family. It’s a creamy, cheesy, ultimate comfort food pasta dish. This Instant Pot version captures all of that and makes it (essentially) a one-pot meal – if you don’t count the baking time at the end. Super easy!

What do I need to make Creamy Parmesan and Turkey Penne?

  • Instant Pot (6-quart is what I have; but an 8-quart is fine too!)
  • 9×13 baking dish
  • Cutting board
  • Chef’s knife for chopping
  • measuring spoons and cups

Can I freeze Creamy Parmesan and Turkey Penne?

Yes! You can easily freeze leftovers in a glass baking dish – or separate into individual portions in aluminum foil and ziplock bags to make an easy-to-grab lunch when you need it.

Do I need to bake Creamy Parmesan and Turkey Penne?

You technically don’t have to bake it to finish it off after the Instant Pot. Just top the pasta with the Provolone slices while still in the Instant Pot and let them melt for a couple of minutes before serving. Your penne pasta will be al dente and just a little more saucy this way. I personally prefer baking it for about 20 minutes because it makes the Provolone melty and just a little browned on top. Yum!

What can I serve with Creamy Parmesan and Turkey Penne?

I love to serve a good crusty French bread, warm out of the oven and a simple side vegetable, like peas, corn, or green beans.

Instant Pot Creamy Parmesan & Turkey Penne

This is my go-to creamy pasta recipe – now for the Instant Pot! It's flavorful comfort food that everyone loves.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 16-ounce package penne pasta
  • 1 16-ounce package JENNIE-O® Extra Lean Ground Turkey
  • 1 cup diced red or white onion
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 14.5-ounce jar Alfredo sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream Use full-fat if you can for better flavor
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
  • 6 slices Provolone cheese

Instructions
 

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Set Instant Pot to "saute" and add olive oil.
  • Add onion and saute 4-5 minutes until soft and translucent.
  • Add garlic and saute for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add ground turkey and mushrooms and cook 5-6 minutes until turkey is fully cooked and no longer pink.
  • Add dry pasta, Alfredo sauce and 2 cups of water to cover the penne pasta.
  • Put the cover on the Instant Pot and set to "manual" for 5 minutes. Once done, do a quick release.
  • Add sour cream and cheeses and stir together until cheeses are melted.
  • Spray 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Add penne and turkey mixture to the baking dish and top with Provolone cheese.
  • Bake 20 minutes or until cheese is fully melted on top.
