When the weather in Minnesota turns to spring, it is a glorious thing – and even more glorious this year because our first 60+ degree day was over a month later than usual. So what’s a girl and her family to do on a sunny Saturday afternoon?

We headed to Uptown Minneapolis for an afternoon in the city!

As much as I love the country and small towns and seeing miles upon miles of farm fields, I also love to visit large cities for all they offer, as well. In our case, Teacher Man, Joe and I hung out with my sister and brother-in-law, basking in the warmth of the city’s afternoon sun while we visited some local restaurants (outdoor seating, please!) and even did a little window shopping at an old-fashioned hat store. It felt like a mini staycation – away from home, away from the typical weekend responsibilities (you know what I’m talking about – laundry, grocery shopping, the usual…) with a few hours to completely relax, enjoy a margarita and people watch.

Thank you, spring, for the wonderful weekend you gave us in Minnesota. We deserved it.

We checked out the view of downtown Minneapolis from Stella's Fish Cafe. At left is my sister, Jodi, and her husband, Clay. At right is my family, of course.

Here's my favorite picture of Joe and I, taken outside on the patio at The Herkimer Pub and Brewhouse.

Joe and his Auntie Jodi - pondering ... what, I wonder? Perhaps this perfect spring day!

We highly recommend the margaritas at Bar Abilene!
We highly recommend the margaritas at Bar Abilene!  Joe was quite partial to the tortilla chips.
Jodi and Clay took us to their favorite hat shop in Uptown, where we tried on some gorgeous hats and wished we were heading to the Kentucky Derby next weekend.

    • That’s exactly what my sister and I were talking about this morning … sometimes we don’t have to go too far (or be gone too long) to enjoy life. But we do have to just go. 🙂
