Hey friends! It’s Turkey Tuesday and I do have a new product I want to show you … but I also have a few random things I feel inclined to write about.

So … let the random fun begin! 🙂

First – Jennie-O Turkey Store sent me these three turkey sausage products to try and tonight I gave the turkey chorizo a whirl in a new queso fundido recipe I found. I loved the chorizo product – great flavor! I need to work on the queso fundido recipe, though. It was quite good — but it almost seemed a little too thick, which I think was a direct result of me not paying attention to how much chorizo the recipe called for. Turns out, I added 16 ounces of chorizo when I only needed 10 ounces.

Oops.

I definitely will try it again with less meat to see if that gives it more of a smooth, queso texture.

Also – if you follow the recipe above, you should know that I did not add the tequila and light it on fire. Why not? If you know me and my level of clutzy-ness, in general, then you will understand. I was not about to light my kitchen and possibly myself on fire. Not happening.

Any-who … try the turkey chorizo – you’ll love it!

Next item … the Duchess of Cambridge.

I mean, is this woman not a total birthing rockstar or what? She looks utterly fabulous (granted, with help from a hair and makeup team) a mere 7 hours after giving birth, standing on the steps of the hospital in a dress and heels for God’s sake.

At that point, I was in my nursing pajamas, with ice packs in my panties (TMI?), and hobbling to and from the bathroom. 😉

But Kate … you go girl!

Random thought #3this article on what we’ve lost in church now that we don’t use hymnals.

This article completely spoke to me because it seems I lament on a nearly weekly basis that my church doesn’t pull out some of the classic hymns to sing in its later (dubbed “contemporary”) service. We don’t use hymnals and the entire service is basically broadcast on big screens.

While I do get that I could probably get up earlier, hit the “traditional” service, and sing more traditional hymns, I still think it’s sad that those of us who attend the later service — like my son and kids his age — don’t hear some of the amazing hymns that many of us grew up with.

Next item … my new favorite LuLaRoe dresses!

LuLaRoe Maurine Dress

Meet Maurine … the sassy dress with the bell sleeves and the slight, ruffly high-low hem. (But good grief – those winter white legs are blinding! LOL)
LuLaRoe Maria Dress

And Maria – a t-shirt maxi dress.

Now, I share these two dress options with you to highlight that when these two styles came out, I absolutely believed 100% that both would completely suck on me. That these styles wouldn’t work for my body type — which is, in a nutshell … short, with curves below, and not much for curves above.

But … I stand corrected. And I need to quit being so hard on myself. Here I am – a LuLaRoe Independent for goodness sake – and I was going write-off two styles immediately without even trying them. I’m not saying everything works on everyone, but sometimes you just don’t know until you try.

And finally … is too early to be thinking of girls’ trip destination options?

This year is a BIG year … I will hit the big 5-0 in September as does my dear cousin in just a few days. My sister already celebrated her 40th birthday in January and my mom turns 75.

So … all of this seems like it calls for a really spectacular girls’ trip.

Where would you go? (Keep it in the U.S., please – I’d love to hear your ideas!)

xoxo – Lara
